MBBS (Hons), FRACS (ORL-HNS)
Dr Philip Yeung is a fellowship-trained otologist and one of the few ENT surgeons in Greater Sydney with dedicated subspecialty expertise in complex ear surgery. After completing his FRACS in Otolaryngology, he undertook an international otology fellowship at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, United Kingdom: a centre recognised globally for its cochlear implant programme and advanced middle ear surgery. That fellowship provided intensive training in the surgical management of hearing loss, chronic ear disease, and implantable hearing devices that he now brings to patients across Inner-Western and Central Sydney.
Dr Yeung's clinical practice centres on restoring hearing and treating chronic ear pathology. He performs tympanoplasty and ossicular chain reconstruction for conductive hearing loss, and surgery for cholesteatoma: a condition that, if left untreated, can erode critical structures within the temporal bone. His international training means he is comfortable with both canal wall up and canal wall down mastoidectomy techniques, selecting the approach best suited to each patient's disease extent and long-term hearing goals.
Patients referred to Dr Yeung consistently remark on his thorough approach to audiological assessment before recommending surgery, and his clear explanations of what each procedure can realistically achieve. He consults at Burwood and Ultimo, providing accessible otology care to patients who would otherwise need to travel to major tertiary centres for specialist ear surgery.
GPs and specialists can refer patients for consultation with Dr Yeung at Burwood or Ultimo. Referrals can be faxed, emailed, or submitted online.
